Artfully Sent Blog Hop- Celebrate Pop Up Birthday Card

Welcome from Brenda’s Blog!

If you are looking for the CTMH Artfully Sent Blog Hop you are in the right place.  This month we are showcasing artwork created using this fabulous cartridge that can only  be purchased through Close to my Heart.

THE PROJECT-

CELEBRATE!  5×7 BIRTHDAY CARD

This was easy and fun to make (with this cartridge of course).

Birthday Celebrate

Birthday Celebrate_inside If you want to find out how I made this, keep scrolling, but if you are ready to move on then you are off to Nikka’s Blog to see what wonder she has created with this amazing cartridge!

The Process

Artfully Sent Key 7 So I have to say it is a little less intimidating when the projects are color coded like this.  If I want to make the pink pop up card I follow those colors and then I know I have the pieces I need.   Those are the ones I circled at the top. I cut the card base and the inside layer using the “pop up” feature.  The BEST part is that the marks are already there for scoring and folding the card, including the pop out pieces!  The word celebrate is also on the cut for the inside.

Now on to the cupcakes!

Now, I am kickin’ it “Old School”by using the Expression and the Cricut Craft Room. You don’t have to. I did to make layering easy and I like to have the file on hand. skitch Here I created a second layer so I wouldn’t have to repeat the process. That’s why it’s blue. So you can see how adding some layering to the cupcake cut outs makes it even more fun and interesting.

For the front of the card I used the 3 Key and the pocket card feature.  The banner in the frame reads HAPPY.

I cut that frame at 4” in canary and I stamped it with the “It’s time to celebrate” sentiment from 1 of the 3 sets of stamps that are also included with this collection! I also backed the pennants with small white triangles to make the word “HAPPY” pop! 20141106_141716 (2)

Then to get the word birthday I turned to the oh so delicious font that is also included on this cartridge. 20141106_175715 I cut the letters at 3/4” twice. Once in white and once in Indian Corn Blue. I used my FAVORITE cheat ever! That is to cut them at the same size and then just off set one color to make it look like it is layered.   I cut the letters at 3/4” twice. Once in white and once in Indian Corn Blue. So, I finished the front off with a couple little bows using the thistle ribbon and Liquid Glass to attach.  I just love how this all came together. Trust me, I NEVER would have made a card like this without the simplicity of the Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge! 20141106_141716 (2)

Now in case you are still with me on the hop, you are off to Nikka’s Blog!

Until Next Time-
