What did I get for Christmas? Say Cheese!!

12 / 29 / 08

So I got a pretty awesome camera for Christmas! I am SO excited. I have been SO frustrated using my other one. So, this one is HD and has face detection and a lot more. I have A LOT to learn about this thing. One of my goals for 2009 is to take better pictures. So, this should help!
So, here is a picture of me taking a picture of me taking a picture of me. Does that make sense?

A Magical Christmas

12 / 29 / 08

Every year I try talking myself into the crazy idea that Christmas is overated. That we commercialize it too much and it takes away from the true meaning. That Christmas is just another day. I also try not to get too crazy with overspending and preparation. BUT! every year the spirit carries me away and this was no different. The music, the looks on the girls faces when they saw Santa came. The joy of being with family and having a full house of love. That is what this Christmas was all about! Without Christmas would we ever slow down and focus on what is important to us?

I am blessed becasue I do focus on that through my scrapbooking throughout the year. With paying attention to the details I get to enjoy my life more. The hugs are warmer, the laughter transcends me and I am blessed. I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and that in the New Year you will take time to remember what is important in this life. And yes, maybe even scrapbook it!
Love,
Sarita

All the Christmas I Need!

12 / 22 / 08

Such a proud moment. Sofie was a shepherd in her Sunday School program yesterday. I knew they would sing a few songs, but the shepherd costume just did me in. Watching her sing “Yes, Jesus loves Me” ans Away in a manger I was a wreck. Someone should have warned me so I could have brought a box of tissue! Anyone else watching this video will not be impressed. But as a mom of an autistic child I am beaming with pride and amazed at Sofie’s determination. It must run in the family LOL! She was squeezing my hand really hard so I knew she was scared, but she did it anyway. GO SOFIE!! She didn’t sing the loudest or draw the most attention, but she was there! That is all I could ask for. So when she did try to sing along and do the hand movements I was beyond touched. All GLORY TO GOD! She would not have been able to do that even 1 yr ago. But He has put her in the best hands ever and I could not be more grateful!!!That is all the Christmas I need!

Waiting…

11 / 6 / 08

After I voted and bit my nails down to nothing I needed something to take my mind off of the election. This was a GREAT way to spend some time. I used the fabulous die cuts we have from our November Promotion. I used flowers and letters from Basics, Winter Cozy and Summer Celebration.
The picture was from Seaworld this summer and it really touched me. To see these two side by side experiencing and discovering together as the manatees mesmerized them was a very emotional moment for me. I will post the 2nd page when I finish it.

WOW! YES WE CAN!

11 / 6 / 08

So, I have to say it. I am SO happy that Obama won. I truly feel a spring in my step and hope in my heart. A quiet Obama supporter here is now shouting from the mountain tops ( or at least my keyboard!) In a HIGHLY McCain supported area we had our sign stolen and several comments made to us that were hurtful. Even in my daughter’s class, the tension was high.

But as a military family, a husband in the union and a mom with a special needs child, he was the right choice for my family and now for the country! I am SO excited. I feel like I need to do more in my life and that we are greater than fear and I am reminded of a quote that I held on to when Scott was in Iraq.

“Courage is fear that has said it’s prayers”

God Bless America and God Bless You!
