Too Dog-Gone Cute!!

10 / 27 / 08

I had SO much fun today playing with our November Stamp of the Month. There are so many ways you can customize your snowman. I used a button nose and as soon as I did that I had to add puppy dog ears. I guess that’s what happens when you own a puppy, you become a dog person! OH NO! LOL!

This is extremely appropriate since we had SNOW FLURRIES today! UGH! NO! I am not ready for this! Well, crafting wise I am. I could be snowed in my cottage for days and be just fine! LOL!
Well, anyway.

Enjoy!

Happy Halloween- BOO!

Boo Ghost Card_My Creative Cottage

I think this little ghost is so stinkin’ cute! I had to use him on this card.

I created the polka dot and argyle background by stamping on cardstock. I also stamped polka dots in white pigment ink on black cardstock for a little embellishment.  Simple but so cute!

Do you make Halloween cards?
Until Next Time-
Happy Crafting!!

Something to Say

10 / 16 / 08

A few weeks ago we surprised Savana and took her to see one of her favorite artists, Matthew West. He is a Christian contemporary- pop singer. What a night! The message from his concert was based on his awesome song, “Something to Say”

“If you’re living, if you’re breathing you’ve got something to say….

Scott came with us too and her thought it was going to be a snooze fest, but much to his surprise these guys were rocking out! It was such a great moment to share with my family and his message was so powerful. You don’t have to go out and preach the Word. Our daily conversations can go a long way. Now, more than ever we need to be especially kind to each other. Even if you just say hi and smile to a stranger. We met him after the concert and Savana was so sweet and told him he inspires her. We can thank the radio station K Love for that one. Savana just kept saying how much she loved Matthew West. So I got her his CD for her birthday last May. Then she made me sit on her bed and listen to the words of his songs. She is 10 years old and just wise beyond her years. She gets through the day with those words and carries them with her, as do I now So, my question to you is what message are you sending today. Remember, you’ve got something to say…..

Finally!

8 / 26 / 08

Okay, now that my clubs are done I can PLAY! I am having so much fun using the new paper, Perfect Day and it works so well with the Sept. SOM. Sofie was in day care yesterday so I had a little time. I can’t believe these kids are going back to school. She is SO ready. I love this time of year. It has been cooler and feels like fall already. Scott had his fantasy football draft last night so you know fall is coming for sure! LOL!

We Did It!!

8 / 23 / 08

We went to Disney World for a family vacation!! This was our first family vacation since Scott had been deployed for a year to Iraq in 2004.

I was in Orlando for the CTMH convention ( OMG! It was amazing!!!) so Scott and the girls met me and we did Disney for 4 days. What an awesome time! The only reason we decied we could attempt this was because of the guest assistance pass. Due to Sofie’s special needs we were able to obtain this and it made all the difference. We didn’t want to have to use it that is for sure. We even tried not to, but after waiting in long lines, her anxiety coming out in hand biting and being agressive we decided to go for it. Every single Cast Member at the parks was very helpful and did everything they could to make Sofie feel special and welcome!Sofie LOVES the characters and thinks Mickey is there just for her. The really neat thing in this picture other than the other 400 I took is that here I have captured pure joy on Sofie’s face. Not a scripted smile, but she is genuinely HAPPY!!! I was so choked up at seeing this I almost forgot to take the picture. This was one special moment and I will not forget. If you have a child with special needs and you think they would like to go to Disney ( Sofie is a sensory seeker so this was fab!) then I highly reccomend going!

Rewind…Recap

6 / 23 / 08

Okay, so it has been awhile. Here is what I have up to in a nutshell…

1 Classical Ballet Recital
Savana began guitar lessons = 1 guitar recital
1 variety Show
1 Laptop crashed! 1 new laptop for Mother’s Day. (Thank GOD I backed up my pics on my external!)
2 NEW Hostess Clubs!
2 NEW Card Clubs!
1 combined birthday party for the girls
1 IEP ( 3.5 hours! That should count for 2)
1 Tap and Jazz recital
1 husband deployed to help with horrible floods in our state.
2 children out of school
1 Summer Play ( as if we didn’t have enough drama!)
1 Mom happy to be back to normal!! LOL!! There is nothing normal here.

I am sure there is more. If you are keeping up with Sofie, the school agreed with her autism diagnosis so that is her official education label. She will have a full time aide and will stay in kindergarten. We are starting a new med with her and she will be getting an MRI this summer to dig a little deeper. So, we shall see. We are also going to do some genetic testing.

I also made a major move with my Blessed Scrapper site. I had that for almost 5 years and decided that Close to my Heart does a much better job than I ever could. So, now when you visit http://www.blessedscrapper.com/ you will go directly to my CTMH site. I am excited to start My Community bulletin board and plan on having a special section for Military Scrapping. I will let you know the details.

Time for bed-

We Have a Number!!

4 / 28 / 08

Well, after almost a year we have finally gotten our spot on the Waiver waiting list. It never should have taken this long but I can only look forward. No more looking through the rear view mirror. I can only look ahead! As of 3/13/2008 she was 345 with a wait of about 12-18 months. So, we shall see….. I know this won’t cure her as there is no cure. But it sure gives me hope that she could have a more normal life. The kids have been off school since Friday and I am going a bit crazy! These are the times that are the hardest for her and ME!! I am exhausted from the tantrums and I can’t wait for school tomorrow! YAY!!!!!!

A Card

4 / 13 / 08

What a boring title but I couldn’t think of anything catchy! LOL! Anyway I am having so much fun with this group at a senior center. I teach a card class once a month and they are such a riot. I just laugh. They really tell it like it is and I quite enjoy that. The don’t care much for the small brads I used on Tuesday So, I will use the bigger ones next time. They want me to do a birthday card class and some for kids. So, this is what I came up with so far.
Michaels had a sale last week so I picked up a few Cuttlebug dies and embossing folders. What a fun way to add pizazz to any project! I have come to the conclusion I have too many FUN tools and machines. Cuz, I keep forgetting to use them!! I like the way this turned out.
